This unique and beautiful space needed a custom kitchen. Since the architecture is already interesting, it didn’t make sense to add too many details to the furniture. The clients who appreciate good design decided to go for a minimalist style for their kitchen.
An interior with a minimal number of elements isn’t as easy as it seems. The tasks of a minimalist designer include discarding the unnecessary, considering functionality, form, proportions, and comfort.
In general, minimalism is a design style that rejects classic design techniques and decorations. It’s known for its simplicity, expressiveness, and elegance. Minimalism shares similarities with constructivism and functionalism, focusing on simple geometric shapes, neutral colors, and natural textures. The key characteristics of modern minimalism in interior design are as follows:
- Emphasis on function over decoration and quantity
- Clean lines and simple forms
- Use of high-quality materials, often with a higher cost
Although minimalism doesn’t include extravagant items, the use of high-quality materials adds practicality and a touch of respectability. Textured elements such as the marbled porcelain countertops and wood cabinetry of this custom kitchen, add dignity and personality.
The minimalist furniture in this interior is characterized by neutral and muted shades. Clients opted for kitchen cabinets in a soft Cashmere shade.
To add a sense of lightness and weightlessness, clients chose not ordinary but thin countertops for this project.
The height of the cooktop installation is flush-mounting, where the flange around the cooktop drops into a shallow recess cut into the worktop, making the upper glass heating surface completely level with the worktop around. The oven are flush mounted in the same way.
As a result, we have a minimalist kitchen that is not overloaded with details and and does not take away from the unique architecture of the space.
